Pat Posey’s career as an educator has spanned 20 years. During that time he has held teaching positions at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music and the University of New Mexico, among others. He has worked as a teaching artist for the Youth Orchestras of Los Angeles (YOLA), appeared as a coach at the New World Symphony, and directed the All-State Saxophone Workshop at Interlochen. In New York he was engaged by the Juilliard School and The New School as a private lesson teacher, and has appeared as a guest artist leading masterclasses in Russia, Germany, and the US.

Scholarly research includes ongoing projects examining the life and music of Ingolf Dahl and Edvard Moritz. He is a frequent guest lecturer at colleges and universities sharing the blueprints for a diverse career in music, as well as pre-concert lecturer for the LA Phil.

His primary teachers include Dale Underwood, former saxophone soloist of the US Navy Band, as well as Griffin Campbell at Louisiana State University (Bachelor of Music, 2000) and Donald Sinta at the University of Michigan (Master of Music, 2001). Further studies were with Joseph Lulloff at the Brevard Music Center and Jim Riggs at the University of North Texas.
